National Technical Official Training by World Para Athletics Instructor at Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Chennai, India – The World Para Athletics (WPA) National Technical Officials (NTO) Training was successfully conducted in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, from 15 to 17 February 2025, during the 23rd National Para Athletics Championship. The training was led by Mr. Tarek Souei (UAE), a distinguished WPA Instructor, and witnessed active participation from officials across the country.

A total of 30 participants took part in the training program, successfully passing the certification process and being officially accredited as National Technical Officials (NTOs). These newly certified NTOs were immediately deployed in the championship, contributing significantly to the smooth and professional execution of the competition.

The primary objective of this training was to develop technical manpower in Para Athletics so that certified NTOs can be effectively utilized in National, State, and District-level championships. By expanding the pool of trained officials, the program aims to elevate the standard of Para Athletics officiating across various levels of competition in India.

This NTO Training was supported by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) under the mandate of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), which focuses on increasing the number of certified technical officials in India. The initiative aligns with the broader goal of enhancing technical officiating capabilities and ensuring a more structured and professional approach to Para Athletics in the country.

With this successful certification, the 23rd National Para Athletics Championship in Chennai benefited from a well-trained and proficient officiating team, ensuring a fair, transparent, and high-quality competition. This training program represents a significant step forward in India’s commitment to developing world-class technical officials in Para Athletics.
